FRIENDLY «CENTRE OF GENDER CULTURE»

AND EQUALITY IN ACTION: ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, CREATIVITY

«Centre of gender culture» was founded in 2008. The organisation promotes gender education in eastern Ukraine and established the country's first Museum of Women's and Gender History – Gendermuseum. In 2016, the Centre became a hub for gender initiatives, and since 2020, it has been supporting women's organisations in several regions of Ukraine. Since 2021, it has been coordinating the Kharkiv 1325 Coalition, which brings together 36 organisations to work on the Women, Peace and Security vision plan.

One of the CGC's projects is the Museum of Women's and Gender History, a unique institution in Eastern Europe that collects and preserves exhibits related to women's history and gender. The museum functions as a centre for interactive gender education, with a collection of over 4,000 exhibits that are constantly being updated.

The centre's team is actively involved in gender education, with experienced experts creating methodological recommendations and conducting training sessions. This promotes gender equality in various spheres of Ukrainian society, from education to human rights initiatives.

The organisation supports the sustainable development of women's non-governmental organisations (NGOs) by providing consultations and training. In addition, the centre initiates advocacy campaigns, in particular for the ratification of the Istanbul Convention and the celebration of the women's movement through national dates, symbols and toponymy.
