The community of the public organisation «Faithful heart» was founded in 2016, when the families of fallen volunteers began to unite for mutual support.
The founder of the organisation, Olena Vovk, began volunteering in 2014, helping the Donbas battalion. The soldiers who went on missions to Ilovaisk and Debaltseve became like brothers and family to her. Therefore, in 2018, she decided to establish an organisation that would help their families.
The organisation assists families with legal issues, helps with paperwork and appeals to state authorities. It also collects humanitarian aid at the request of the military. Working with the families of volunteers who are not fully entitled to social benefits is particularly important.
The «Faithful heart» not only brings together the families of the deceased, but also develops a roadmap for the families of the missing, helping them understand which authorities to contact. The organisation actively cooperates with the Ministry of Veterans and Defence to ensure the rights of families of volunteers who still do not have legal privileges, such as military pensions or one-time payments.
Olena notes that supporting the families of the deceased is psychologically difficult but extremely important work that unites people across Ukraine. Since the organisation was founded, it has processed about a thousand requests.
