«SPECIAL WORKSHOP - ART FOR AUTISM»

Since 2020, the public organisation «Special Workshop - Art for Autism» has been actively working in the field of career guidance, pre-vocational and vocational training for young people with autism. Before the full-scale invasion, 15 teenagers aged 14 to 19 attended weekly classes in Kharkiv, learning skills in the visual arts, sewing, handicrafts and souvenir making.

During this time, more than 700 hours of classes were held, three exhibitions were organised in the centre's own exhibition space, including two solo exhibitions by young artists with autism, and five charity fairs. In total, about 1,500 people attended the workshop's events.

Since the beginning of the invasion, the team has set up a hotline for families of children and young people with disabilities, counselled those who were forced to leave Kharkiv, and provided humanitarian aid. In addition, the organisation sold the workshop's products and held educational events to raise funds for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"Supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine is currently an important focus of the workshop's activities. We are sending hygiene products, medicines and equipment, as well as raising funds. It is important for the organisation to contribute to the victory," says director Natalia Ivashura.
